We are entirely too entertained with this child in ways most parents probably aren't. We are constantly seeing who can come up with the most clever nickname for him, Liamderthal (credit for that one goes to our brother-in-law Chris), Aliam, Chameliam... Heimlich. The list keeps growing. I hope this helps him to never take himself too seriously as opposed to damaging his fragile self esteem. This kid is our pride and joy. We love every fat roll, every slobbery chin, every luscious eyelash and can't wait to see the evolution of this growing human continue to take place. And although we see him daily, the leaps and bounds of changing he has done is not lost on us. Since we've hit his 2 month old mark, I wanted to compile a post of his transformation. So I present to you...
Liamderthal: An Evolution
Let us start with the very beginning. Here you see us anxiously awaiting the arrival of our little guy. Pure excitement right there. It is amazing to think that there ever was just the two of us. Adding Liam to our family is the most natural feeling.
Here we see him taking his first breaths and opening his eyes to the world. This is a legendary moment in the life of Liamderthal.
These are some of the first people to come in contact with Liamderthal. He was so loved from the very beginning of his existence.
This next stage in life is what I like to call "The Old Man Phase". Notice the wrinkly forehead, the white wiry stray hairs, and the devilishly handsome features that can only come with age. There are some speculations that Liamderthal comes from a long line of monkeys. Further research is being done to confirm this accusation.
Clearly the wrinkly forehead (and monkey features) come from his father's line. ;)
Liamderthal is no bigger than that of an average human male's hand in his first few weeks of life.
His skin is slightly stretchy until he begins to grow into it.
Liamderthal's very favorite things to do are:
Sleeping...
Visiting Family...
Wearing out his caretakers...
Observing the world...
Sleeping on Mommy like a frog/spider monkey...
More sleep...
And eating (obviously) that's what makes him soooo happy! ;)...
His dislikes include:
Being a pirate...
"I don't wanna be a pirate!!"
And his car seat freaks him out every now and then...
Well, our journey thus-far has been a successful one. Although figuring out this new species is sometimes quite the challenge, we have found that those moments in the wee hours of the morning when you've had absolutely no sleep and suddenly Liamderthal flashes you a genuine smile, is what makes it all worth it.
And so our further discovery of Liamderthal will continue as he progresses. In the meantime, we will enjoy every sweet moment of baby chub we can get.
