Phle·bot·o·mist - (flĭ-bŏt'ə-mĭst)

n.

1. One who practices phlebotomy.
2. One who draws blood for analysis or transfusion.

I am now a Phlebotomist. What does this mean? Not only am I officially certified, (which I have been for 4 months) but I will be working and getting paid AS a Phlebotomist. YESSSSSSS....

This job pretty much fell into my lap. Thanks to Lydia Bos. (Bruce's Sister.) Love her! I was planning on working for the census for 4 months before I started school. I had pretty much given up on looking for a Phlebotomy job. The sad thing is, even though Phlebotomists are in high demand... they will NOT hire you unless you have had at LEAST 6 months of experience.

Lydia called me up one day. She told me that her old supervisor called her, offering her her old job and that she had to decline them because she didn't want to work as late as they wanted her to. They asked if she knew anyone who would be interested so she gave them my name. That's not the best part!! She had to convince them to hire me with no experience so she stuck her neck out, talked to her old manager AND supervisor and talked me up to the point that they reconsidered hiring someone with experience! They NEVER do that. They don't even hire people who have had 10 years of Plasma drawing experience. They look for experienced Phlebotomists who have worked in Hospitals and clinics.

The "They" that I am referring to is LabCorp. They are a company that does business with clients all over Utah. What they say to small doctors offices and hospitals is: If you do business with us, then we will give you a full-time Phlebotomist. That's pretty much the gist of it. So they do business with clients all over Utah, Nevada, California, etc. The place I will be working in is called "Circle of Life". It's an OBGYN clinic located in South Ogden.

It's such a nice place!! There's actually a spa on the bottom floor! The top floor is where all the fun stuff happens!! :) There are 8 different providers in this clinic so the Phlebotomist already working there just needs some extra help. The ONLY reason they considered me is because there's already another Phlebotomist working there. They felt that if they put someone experienced there then the two of them would clash heads. This way, she can train me how she wants me. When I went in for the interview they just kept telling me how this was a once in a lifetime opportunity, and the experience is pretty much invaluable. I'll be doing 60 to 100 sticks a day! It's so awesome!!!

I'll work from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Mon. through Fri.! And get this!! At $10.91/hour! That may not seem huge, but new Phlebo's normally start out at $9.50/hour. If that was the pay they would have offered me, I would have had to turn them down because I wouldn't be able to save enough money.

All in all, this truly is an amazing blessing that fell into my lap at the exact time that I needed it! I'm so grateful for the way things worked out!! I'm a little intimidated and overwhelmed at the new-ness of it all! Lydia pretty much spent an entire day with me giving me all the information I'd need to know. I took 4 pages of notes and was a little blown away! Hopefully I'll get the hang of it quickly! I'm excited though!! Very very excited!!! :)

That is all. :)

Moist Crusty Purpley Slurples

Tonight Shelby and I went to FHE. We've pretty much been inseparable lately with Adam leaving and all. It was this spiritual meeting set in the chapel, so everyone was dressed up and afterward we had pie. Well, Shelby and I hadn't eaten dinner yet so we decided to go and get some food. Well.. you see... We went to Wendy's. The last time we went to Wendy's together we both got the same thing and got food poisoning... ha ha ha No more Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgers for us!!! LOL! So this time we decided to just order the chicken sandwiches. (We're on a strict dollar menu diet! ;)) They were pretty good. We had fun paying the cashier $6.17 in all change that we combined from both our purses! Ha ha We then headed back to the church to pick up my car and eat. But then.. we both started craving a Slurpee. So off to 7-11 we went!!

Here's the thing... last time we went there, there was this really old (like 50 something) black man who was hitting on us and Shelby did not realize it until I pointed out that what he was saying was very inappropriate and he meant differently then what she thought!! Ha ha (Shelby's blond shows every once in a while!! Lol!!) That was months ago though and we haven't been back since!! So we got out of the car today and noticed that it was a different cashier. So we go to the Slurpee machine. Of course there was a plethora of Slurpee Flavors. (By the was is that how you spell Slurpee? Slurpie? Slurpey? Slurp............) Anyway, you know how you can pull the little knob thing and taste a little bit? Shelby was doing this to all of them, and I decided I wanted a taste. But I pulled... way... too... hard. And Slurpee shot out EVERYWHERE!! Well... I didn't realize it shot everywhere because it barely had a chance...to...shoot.... make sense?? Lol It was like 1 sec. of Slurpee shootage....

But of course I look down and I am COMPLETELY COVERED in PURPLE SLURPEE!!! (The words Purple and Slurpee have like the exact same letters only rearranged. And if you say it enough times together they almost become the same word...) So of course... I'm in a skirt... and covered in sticky... gooey... sugary... heavenly...ness..... ;) Next thing you know... Shelby does the EXACT SAME THING!! We were having a very hard time. The Cashier was laughing very hard at us. The good thing??? I was wearing a purple skirt that was the exact shade of the purple Slurpee. And Shelby was wearing a white skirt and out of all the staining flavors that could've exploded onto her, only the white pina colada flavor shot onto her. So we were pretty much just wet... yet... no staining... Yay!! Lol

Funny/Awkward part?? On our way out the door, guess who was coming in?? Creepy old Cashier man. And as we passed each other he says "Oh look, my two favorite girls!!" ... uh... it's been MONTHS!! Creepy.... *Shifty eyes* Ha ha ha ha ha

So that's my adventure of this night! Quite the fun times! We slurped our purpley slurples and talked for another 3 hours!! Ha ha ha

Good. Times.

By the way.... Have you ever thought of the word Moist? ... Isn't that just a disgusting word?? Moist... Just saying it makes me cringe... Moist... Moist... Moist... Moist... Hands... Moist... Cake... Moist... Tissues...ew.... Why are such things moist??? The word Moist... just fits together in your mouth in such a way that it makes me shudder. And another word that just can't be said in a good way?? Crusty. Crusty. Crusty... Ew... grosss. Gag.... Moist Crusty Cake... Moist Crusty Tissues... HA ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ... Sorry... have you lost your appetite yet?? Don't worry... I'm already full from our moist crusty purpley slurples. ;)

I swore!!

I swore I would never talk about my dating life in the blogging world. I don't really want to be seen as crazy or emotional when mentioning these things, but sometimes I don't know how else to let it out. Truthfully I'd rather be done with it all! Lol

Let's start with the "type" of guy that seems to always be attracted to me. They see you once and are immediately interested. They count adding you as a friend on facebook a significant enough gesture to ask for your number. Suddenly you wish you'd never given it out. They try to hold your hand before they've even talked about taking you out. And they seem to have no determination in life and you suspect that the only reason they even find you interesting is because you are something. Not someone really interesting that they can't seem to get enough of. Not someone they just enjoy being with. Something that breathes that they can chase after just because they need to "get married". ... ...

Truth be told that stereotype has only happened once or twice for me. But I still feel like that's how all of them are. They only rush into things because they NEED to find out if you're the one they are supposed to marry. Well why can't you just date me and enjoy that HMMM??? Oh right.

Am I naive enough in thinking that it shouldn't be that way?

I just need to get out and meet new people. I don't know how much of my life I can actually call a "dating life" when I'm just swimming around in Good Ole Clinton.

Then there's just the "Good Friend". Nevermind that you used to date, now for whatever reason everything is just supposed to be ok being friends. The fact that he only talks about what girls I know that I can possibly set him up with makes me suspicious that he is the "type" of guy I mentioned above. He didn't really care about me, he just cared that I was a girl and that I was interested in him. Granted I did tell him that I didn't see myself marrying him, so that would be a good cause for him to lose all interest in me. But why do we still have to be friends? Of course I don't see myself marrying him right now. Does he REALIZE how young I am??? I was in 8th grade when he was graduating High School. But to me it feels like just being friends is worsening the situation. I get the guilt for dumping him so I feel I owe it to him to make him happy somehow since I can't. It's not that I don't enjoy his friendship. Besides the fact that he's quickly become one of my best friends, whom I still care about, I can't get passed the idea that he possibly continues to use me.

He's probably the best out of all the others I've dated though. But then again... that's not saying much.

My mom constantly asks me "Do you think you could date a guy who actually FINISHED his mission??"

... ... It's not like I want it this way. Lol

The first guy I went on a date with who hadn't served his mission I felt very passionate about not judging him. I figured that it wasn't my business unless we actually started dating more and he felt the need to tell me. Otherwise, I was going to give him the benefit of the doubt. He obviously felt the need to tell me on the first date. Guilty? Still don't know. He got sick. Medical reasons. You know, that's all well and good but you've been home for 7 months and still don't have a job... Hmmm... Not only that but you're 20 years old and you've never taken the ACT? Are you PLANNING on going to college?

Needless to say, we haven't seen much of each other.

And now there's another one. Previous experience with guys who came home for medical reasons has led me to be skeptical of such excuses. Even though I still know it's not my place to judge, this IS MY future... don't I deserve to be picky enough to sort through the bad ones??

But... good news is... I don't get the first impression that he is one of the "bad ones". He's been home less than a month and he's already got a job. At least I know he's responsible because he finished a year at Utah State before his mission and that's where he's headed in the fall. But what's a girl supposed to do?

We're told our whole lives to hold out for a return missionary to get married in the temple. The sad thing to me is, it's no longer good enough just to be a "Return Missionary." I wish it wasn't so but I've been naive enough to think that if you're going on a mission then you must be worthy. Tis not always the case. I'm afraid a lot of guys think that when they go on their missions they will get rid of any bad habits or sins they had committed. But when they come home they go back to being the same person they were before their missions.

I know I'm young and I have not had all that much experience, but I wish guys wouldn't hold it over our heads that they're "Return Missionaries." I also think that guys shouldn't hold it over their heads that they're not. Maybe it's good enough to have served as long as you could as long as you are striving to be the kind of guy you need to be in this world.

But honestly... if you haven't been able to finish your mission, are you going to be able to be the kind of guy you need to be in THIS world?

Again... just being skeptical. Not trying to be judgmental.

Lol, I just wish it was a lot easier sometimes.

Good news... I feel like every decision I've made, still would've been made even if a certain Japanese Mish weren't in the picture.

That gives me points right?? Ha ha ha

Well... sorry for the ranting post... Hope it's not too boring! :D
